When Green takes over Concepts

In the latest Auto Shows around the world the Green technologies have taken the command in the concept cars presented by the main automotive brands. As the need of less pollutant and more efficient cars is increasing the brands are consistently presenting new concept cars that offer a preview of new technologies or what people should expect from Green cars in a few years.

So this week on Autoviva we will be showing some of the most exciting Green Concept Cars that have been presented in Auto Shows. The Green Spotlight starts now.

Peugeot EX1

The Peugeot EX1 was a two-seater roadster 100% electric concept car unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 2010. This vehicle with a futuristic style and original architecture was one of the main features at the Parisian motor show.

This green concept is powered by two electric motors placed on each axle. Together they have a maximum output of 340 bhp, delivering instantly a constant torque of 240 Nm at the front and rear.

The Peugeot EX1 was developed to celebrate the bi-centenary of French brand and was thought to be a stunning creation.

In terms of design the EX1 features mechanical design which resembles an “exoskeleton” that highlights the light-weight nature of the vehicle. The EX1 features the new stylistic design codes from Peugeot that were first presented on the SR1 concept earlier in 2010.

Citroën Survolt

The Survolt is a small-sized racing car based on the concept car REVOLTe presented at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. Because the car runs on battery power alone it is classed as a zero-emissions vehicle.

The Survolt is 3.85 metres (12.63 feet) long, 1.87 metres (6.14 feet) wide and 1.20 metres (3.94 feet) high and features an irreverent design with the front dominated by the vehicle's badge located above the large oval-shaped grille.

The car has horizontal LED headlamps which have lower power consumption than traditional filament bulbs, important in a battery-operated vehicle. At the back the Survolt maintains the light cluster design used on the REVOLTe, and has a spoiler to increase rear downforce.

The Survolt is powered by a pair of electric motors with a combined power output of 300 BHP (223.71 kW). Its top speed is 260 km/h (161.56 MPH), and it can accelerate from 0–100 km/h (62.2 MPH) in less than 5 seconds.

Citroën claims that the batteries provide a range of 200 km (124 miles).
