At the Detroit’s Motor Show 2011, GMC presented a new concept truck - the Sierra All Terrain HD.
Based on the new 2011 Sierra HD the All Terrain HD concept, its production-based 4WD chassis had been modified but still featured the same Duramax diesel/Allison 1000 six-speed powertrain. In order to deliver off-road capability, the All Terrain HD concept received enhanced suspension and unique body dimensions, including increased ground clearance and wider track. Still the concept vehicle maintained the HD levels of payload and trailering capacity.

Streamlined bumpers were designed to increase approach/departure angles and incorporate frame-mounted recovery hooks. The concept vehicle also features a large, airflow-optimized grille that is expected to maximize cooling in tough conditions. A forced-induction hood delivers more air to the Duramax diesel engine.
