Alonso Still Believes Championship Is in Reach

Alonso has gone from leading the championship to fighting to stay in it.

Fernando Alonso believes that the Formula 1 World Drivers' Championship is still within reach despite a 13-point deficit to Sebastian Vettel and three races to go.

"Nothing changed in one race. There are 75 points and we are 13 behind and we know we need to improve.

"As we saw with Mark with the KERS problem, it can happen to Seb or it can happen to us, so I am optimistic," said Alonso.

says that it is continuing to develop the F2012 and pushing hard to give the championship to its Spanish driver. The team has said that it has improved parts ready for all of the coming races.

, teams have to improve their cars by 0.1 to 0.15 seconds per race to stay competitive.

On the constructors' championship side, Ferrari still needs to keep fighting. It grew its lead ahead of McLaren to 10 points in India, but that is not enough to rest. One poor performance could drop the team to third in the championship.

The big question mark remains the US Grand Prix in November. None of the teams have been able to test there, and it could provide a surprise winner.
