Ferrari has already published its testing schedule for Jerez. Massa will drive on the first three days, and de la Rosa will take over on February 8.
For the Barcelona test, Alonso will drive for the first three days, and Massa will drive the final day.
There will be another test at Barcelona from February 28 to March 3 where Alonso and Massa will split the driving days.
The more you think about, the more it makes sense for Alonso to skip the first test. We already know that the few rules changes will mean that the 2013 car will be very similar to the 2012 car, which Alonso proved he could drive quite well last year.
It makes more sense to give Massa the seat time in the car and make sure that everything is ready before bringing in the team's premiere driver.
Ferrari will present its 2013 Formula 1 car on February 1.
