Vettel ended the season in a tie for the most consecutive wins in F1 history

Sebastian Vettel won his ninth consecutive race this season at the Brazilian Grand Prix, the tying the record of Alberto Ascari, and by winning 13 races this season he ties Michael Schumacher's 2004 wins record. Mark Webber ended his career with a second place finish, and Fernando Alonso ended a rough season with a third place finish. Jenson Button ended a disastrous season for McLaren with the company's best finish this season in fourth place.

Vettel had a poor launch at the start, and Rosberg got around him to take the lead. But it did not last long, by the end of lap two; Vettel was in the lead again. Alonso maintained his third place, and after falling briefly, Webber regained fourth.

Romain Grosjean qualified sixth and was competitive, but his engine exploded on lap four ending his year.

Alonso climbed to second over Rosberg, but he had a fight with Webber to maintain second from lap ten to 12. Webber finally got around him and pulled out a big lead immediately.

Former leader Rosberg was also falling out of the pace. He had fallen to sixth by lap 15.

Felipe Massa was having quite run by the middle of the race. He had moved up to fourth, but he received a drive-through penalty for putting all four wheels over the pit entrance line.

Lap 46 and 47 were some of the most exciting of the race. Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas made contact going into the first corner. It shredded Bottas' right rear immediately, and Hamilton lost his left rear a few moments later. Bottas had to retire, but Hamilton was able to limp back to the pits for fresh tires. Hamilton received a drive-through penalty for the incident as well. Hamilton fell to 11th.

At the same time, Vettel pitted but his team had a problem with the front left tire. Red Bull had called Webber in at the same time, and he had to wait for the team to be done with Vettel before he could change tires. It played into Alonso's hand, and he cut Webber's lead over him to barely a second.

Rain began misting down around lap 55, and it kept up through the end of the race. But it had no affect on the top runners.

In the drivers' championship, Mark Webber goes from fifth place to third place by leaping over Kimi Raikkonen and Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton scored enough points to beat Raikkonen and take fourth place. Nico Hulkenberg moved up from 11th to tenth over Paul di Resta. Sergio Perez also moved up one spot, which moved di Resta down two positions to 12th

There were no changes in the constructors' championship standings in the final race.
