will both get xDrive all-wheel drive options in the fall. For the 120d xDrive, they use between 4.7l/100km and 4.8l/100km depending on the tires that are selected. That is 0.2l/100km more than comparable rear-wheel drive models. The M135i xDrive uses 7.8l/100km, 0.3l/100km more than the rear-wheel drive version. The 120d xDrive is only available on the five-door 1 Series, and the M135i xDrive is only available on the three-door car.

BMW is also adding a new 114d that uses a 1.6-liter diesel engine with 95hp and 235Nm of torque. It accelerates to 100km/h in 12.2 seconds and uses between 4.1/100km and 4.3/100km depending on tires specified. It comes standard with brake regeneration, stop/start, electric power steering and available low rolling resistance tires.

The 1 Series three-door will also be available as the 120d and 118i models.

3 Series

BMW also has extensive changes to the 3 Series for the coming year.

The sedan is getting a new 320i EfficientDynamics Edition. It uses a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 170hp and 250Nm of torque. It accelerates to 100km/h in 7.6 seconds. The Efficient Dynamics changes the engine management, gear ratios, aerodynamics and rolling resistance. It uses 5.3l/100km and emits 124g/km of CO2.

There is also a new 316i sedan. It uses a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine to produce 136hp and 220Nm with a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic. It accelerates to 100km/h in 8.9 seconds with the manual or 9.2 seconds with the automatic. Consumption and emissions are the same regardless of transmission but vary based on tire choice. They use between 5.8l/100km and 5.9l/100km and emits between 134g/km of CO2 and 137g/km of CO2.

BMW is also adding the 3 Series Touring wagon in the fall. It will be available as the 328i Touring328i TouringBMW 328i TouringGermany, 2012 > present4 photos
