Apparently BMW's M Performance series of cars are more than just incredibly powerful diesels. The Bavarian automaker announced today its newest concept, the M135i Concept, for the first three-door version of the new F20 1-series with its now ubiquitous petrol 3.0l inline-six with a twin-scroll turbo.
Because it is a concept, BMW is not revealing power from the turbo 3.0 liter engine but claims that it has 'over 300hp,' and it is probably more likely 315hp. BMW also claims that the car has an extensively modified suspension, but it did not go into details about what it changed. The M135i also gets M sports braking and 18in wheels.
The outside of the car has been modified with a new front bumper with three large air intakes. The two on the sides are for brake cooling, and the large intake in the middle is for engine cooling. The rear gets a lower apron painted Dark Shadow metallic. The sides have a decal in the M colors of light blue, dark blue and red that continues to the rear.
The M135i also happens to be the introduction of the three-door 1-series. The three-door makes the car look more compact and has slightly larger rear fenders.
The M135i will be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show on March 6. While this vehicle is just a concpet, the three-door 1-series is almost a certainty. BMW has no plans on selling the 1-series hatchback in the US.
