produced to French Minister of Industrial Reovery Arnaud Montebourg. The car was presented by Renault Chief Operating Officer Carlos Tavares. Limited deliveries will begin in 2012, and the cars will arrive at dealers in the first quarter of 2013. Montebourg ordered the car at the Paris Motor Show in September.
The Zoe is meant to be Renault's major electric car at an affordable price. Prices in France start at €13,700 including VAT after a €7,000 government rebate.
“The first Zoe delivery is a vital step in Renault’s electric vehicle offensive, aimed at making zero-emission mobility affordable for the greatest number. The commitment of the government and Mr. Montebourg, as confirmed today, is a decisive advantage for making France a robust cornerstone of electric vehicle development and serves to reinforce Renault’s position as a French champion on the international stage," said Tavares.
The next step will be to build France's electric car charging infrastructure. Both Renault and the government are backing projects to build the infrastructure. The first of these will be at government ministries, especially the Bercy Finance Ministry where Montebourg works. The government also plans to add electric vehicles to its public fleets.
