option. While the 3.7l V6 is powerful with 328hp, it also has rather poor fuel economy in European terms rated at 7.8l/100km of petrol on highways, 15.3l/100km in cities and 10.5l/100km combined. It also produces 246g/km of CO2. Due to the poor economy, sales of the G-Series in Europe have been slow. For example, Infiniti sold just 500 cars in the UK last year. Infiniti hopes that the more economical diesel four cylinders will make the car more popular.
The next generation G-Series is due next year, but it has not been seen yet. Infiniti has indicated that styling will be inspired by the Emerg-EInfiniti Emerg-eJapan, 2012 > 201212 photos
concept car shown this year at the Geneva Motor Show.
Infinit's goal is to sell 500,000 cars a year by 2016. It sold 145,000 cars worldwide in 2011. Infiniti has also been expanding dealers in Europe this year in Italy, Spain, France and Luxembourg. Since 2008, it has opened a new European dealer every two weeks.
The Etherea-based compact will go on sale sometime in 2015.
