in one day. Earlier today, Jota Sport showed a hardcore, track-focused version of the MX-5 with 205hp, a roll bar and road-legal slick tires. However, that car is just a concept. Mazda is showing the special edition MX-5 Kuro for the UK that is available as either the soft-top or folding hardtop.

Kuro means 'black' in Japanese, and that is the main styling element for the car. The roof, door mirrors and grill trim are painted black, and the cars get gunmetal-color 17in wheels. The Kuro is available in white, red or black for the rest of the body. The cars also get a simulated diffuser rear bumper, sports exhaust with larger diameter, red exterior graphics,

Inside the cars get Stone and Black leather heated seats, Stone leather door inserts with red stitching, alloy pedals, premium floor mats and air conditioning.

The Kuro is based on the Sport Tech trim line and is available as either the 1.8 liter soft top with 126ps or the 2.0 liter hardtop convertible with 160ps

The MX-5 Kuro goes on sale on July 1 for £18,495 for the soft-top and £21,995 for the hardtop. Mazda will build 200 soft-top cars and 400 hardtop cars. They will be available in the UK only.

Both the Kuro and the Jota Sport MX-5 GT will be on display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
