The electric car is painted in white and yellow and features Mercury's trademark moustache. The car is a one-off built for the 'Freddie For A Day' event and auctioned at a party at The Savoy in London for an undisclosed sum. All of the proceeds of the sale went to the fight against AIDS. The event at The Savoy raised £250,000.

It looked incredible with its moustache on the front and wrapped in the design of the iconic ‘Live Magic Freddie’ yellow jacket and white trousers outfit he famously wore at Wembley Stadium in 1986. The Mercury Phoenix Trust is doing a great job in educating and raising awareness of HIV and AIDS in the areas of the world where it is most needed and Renault is delighted to be involved with such a worthy charity," said Renault UK Managing Director Thierry Sybord. 

Freddie For A Day is in its third year and is meant to be a worldwide celebration of Mercury on September 5, his birthday. People are supposed to dress up as Mercury. It is generally connected with events linked to AIDS charities. 

The day was created by Mercury Phoenix Trust, which was founded in 1992 by the rest of the Queen band members to distribute the money raised from the 1992 Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert. Since then it has raised over $15 million for AIDS awareness. 

The Twizy is Renault's two-seat electric car with a 60-mile range. It takes about 3.5 hours to charge. It has a starting price of £6,690 in the UK plus £45 for monthly battery rental.
