lead designer Laurens van der Acker has created seven concepts for Renault over the past few years that are meant to show a new expression of Renault design.

From October 19, 2013, to January 19, 2014, L’Atelier Renault in Paris will be displaying all of the cars together to allow visitors get a complete view of van der Acker’s vision of Renault design. To make the exhibit even more dynamic, Renault partnered with Berlin artist Christopher Bauder to create a living light sculpture of light around the cars.

Van der Acker started with the idea of a flower with six petals. Each petal represented a different moment of people’s lives like falling in love, starting a family and so on. He then created a car that he thought would be appropriate for these moments. The cars that van der Acker crafted for the petals are the DezirDeZirRenault DeZirFrance, 2010 > present4 photos

Bauder’s installation is made up of 750 LED tubes hanging over the seven cars. The colors change to reflect the time of day and events taking place.

The L’Atelier Renault will also be selling miniatures of the concepts and have a special menu of food and cocktails inspired by the cars.
