Renault’s test center in Romania officially opened

The Titu Technical Center has been officially opened by Renault, in a ceremony that counted with the presence of Romanian President Traian Basescu and Patrick Pélata, Renault's Chief Operating Officer.

In order to complement the work done on the Aubevoye and Lardy test centers in France, the new facility will be focusing on testing for vehicles and powertrain components from the B0 platform used for Logan.

The new test center located in Titu was built on 330-hectare site midway between the Dacia plant in Pitesti and the Renault Technologie Roumanie (RTR) engineering center in Bucharest. This facility will be testing Group vehicles and powertrain components.

The center counts with 100 test benches that can simulate extreme conditions, testing the ability to withstand cold, and simulating sunlight, rain, and other situations. It also features 32 km of tracks (ten different types) that were developed to analyze vehicle behavior. They include a speed circuit, uneven road surfaces, an underbody impact zone and wading troughs.

The first teams have been working at the Titu Technical Center since June 2010. The workforce will reach the 300 workers by the end of the year, with the first track tests already scheduled for next month.
