Group fell 1.9% worldwide in the first six months of the year, but the company is doing well in Asia. Total Renault sales outside of Europe grew 4.3% to 646,274 cars, but sales in Europe fell 7.3% to 656,580 cars. At this rate, Renault sales outside of Europe could overtake European sales by the end of the year. This year marks Renault’s highest six months of sales outside of Europe ever.

Sales outside of Europe now make up 49.6% of global sales, up 2.9% from last year. Its top world markets are France, Russia and Brazil. But in just a year of sales, it has also become the bestselling European brand in India.

"The Renault group has once again demonstrated the relevance of its international development strategy, which allows it to absorb a large part of the fall in the European market. We are posting robust successes internationally, as seen in Russia and India,” said Jérôme Stoll, Renault head of sales and marketing.

brand is experiencing double-digit growth in Europe. Renault is still the third-largest seller of cars in Europe with a 7.2% market share, and it is the leader in the light commercial vehicle market with a 14.2% market share.

Renault brand sales were down 4.6% globally to 1,062,295 units. Sales outside of Europe of the brand were up 4.3%, and sales in Europe were down 12.5%.

Dacia brand sales are up 16.5% worldwide to 211,438 cars.

Renault’s Korean arm, Renault Samsung, fell 12.4% in sales with 29,136 units sold.

Renault is predicting that the global auto market will grow by 2% this year, and Europe will contract by 5% this year. It believes that it will continue to win market share in Europe while growing international sales.
