Renault Sport Tunes Megane Estate into 220hp GT

has announced the Renault Sport Megane Estate GT 220 that will be sold as a limited edition in Europe and Japan. Each car will come with an individually numbered plaque on the interior to identify the production number. 

The Megane Estate R.S GT 220 is powered by Renault Sport’s 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with 220hp, 340Nm and stop/start. It is the same engine as the standard Megane Renault SportRenault Megane Coupe RSFrance, 2010 > present5 photos
. It uses 7.3l/100km and emits 169g/km of CO2.

“Megane Estate GT 220 is concrete evidence that a car can be practical yet still pack genuine performance. It has all the qualities expected of a sporty car while at the same time permitting everyday driving pleasure," said Jean-Maxime Boulanger, Product Manager, Renault Sport. 

The suspension pieces are shared with the Megane R.S but with a retuned setup. It also gets the same tires as the Megane R.S. The electric power steering gets a unique set-up for the GT 220. 

In addition to the powerful engine and capable suspension, the cars come with GT 220 badges and 18in gloss black wheels.

Renault adds gloss black trim on the door mirrors, diffuser, front air scoops and roof bars. The door handles are body color. Inside, it gets a unique, steel gearshift knob.

Sales of the car begin in November in France, and it will go on sale later in the rest of Europe and Japan. The cars are not limited in terms of units, but orders will only be taken through September 2013.
