Levorg concept previews the company’s next generation wagon. Subaru says that the car is meant to provide "driving enjoyment and peace of mind.” It plans to have the car on sale in Japan in spring 2014 with orders starting on January 4, 2014.
Subaru’s new corporate look is much more light and agile looking than its current generation of cars. The front of the car has Subaru’s new hexagonal grill and hawk eye headlights. The Levorg actually has some curves in its design and is far less monolithic than the brand’s current cars. It is supposed to be a fun touring car while being able to carry nearly everything a person would need.
Power for the concept comes from either a direct-injected, 1.6-liter turbocharged boxer four-cylinder with 167hp (170ps) and 184lb-ft (250Nm) of torque or a direct-injected, 2.0-liter turbocharged boxer four-cylinder with 296hp (300ps) and 295lb-ft of torque (400Nm). Both come with Subaru’s CVT and SI-Drive all-wheel drive mode select. The 2.0-liter version gets an added sport mode for the SI-Drive.
Both models use Subaru’s EyeSight front-mounted cameras for adaptive cruise control and active safety systems. The latest EyeSight system can make small corrections in steering as part of the Active Lane Keeping System. The system can also identify brake lights in front of the car and activate the pre-collision braking system at speeds up to 50km/h.
Subaru has not yet announced the Levorg for regions other than Japan.
