Mitsubishi's Nissan Qashqai rival

 
With a coupé-like design the new SUV from Mitsubishi will be sitting between  the ASXASXMitsubishi ASXJapan, 2010 > present64 versions

and Outlander. Its look will be inspired on the 2014 and 2015 concepts XR-PHEV and XR-PHEV II. The new model will give the Japanese brand a full range of SUVs which have been helping it increase its sales.
 

Design

 
From the teaser image released by Mitsubishi we can spot a resemblance between the new model's nose and the one from the OutlanderOutlander Gen.3Mitsubishi Outlander Gen.3Japan, 2013 > present27 versions

. However, with a more angular rear, a coupé-like roofline and the slimming glassline set both SUVs apart, possibly attracting different publics.

 

More Mitsubishi SUVs to come

 
For 2020 Mitsubishi has already scheduled the replacement of the current Outlander generation. Also on the brand's plans is a smaller model to compete with the Nissan JukeJukeNissan JukeJapan, 2010 > present135 versions

All-new Subaru XV

 
Based on a completly new platform Subaru will be unveiling the second generation of the XV at this year's Geneva Motor Show. The new Global Platform will be shared by the XV and ImprezaImpreza Gen.5Subaru Impreza Gen.5Japan, 2016 > present4 versions

and with its use Subaru has managed to reduce vibration, increase rigidity and improve steering, ride, handling and refinement.
 
The new model will be longer, wider and will offer more interior space. However Subaru has decided to drop the seven-seat option.
 

Revised engines and hybrid version

 
The second generation XV will be fitted with revised versions of the current 2.0-litre petrol and turbodiesel engines. A hybrid version is also expected to be launched. The original model had a hybrid version sold in Japan and in the US, but the second generation's hybrid version should also reach the European market.
