sedan, but it is already planning a smaller, 3-series rival sedan for as soon as 2015.

The smaller sedan is slated to be Tesla's entry-level car. The company is trying to get the price around $30,000. Tesla's design head Franz von Holzhausen said that the style of the new sedan would be more "experimental" than previous Teslas because the brand needs to start building a style identity. Von Holzhausen said that the company plans to use the new platform for many models and maybe even a pickup truck.

The smaller Tesla sedan will be the fourth Tesla model. It is planning on launching a crossover based on the Model S chassis next year called the Model X.
