The XR-PHEV II is an evolution of the XR-PHEVMitsubishi Concept XR-PHEVJapan, 2014 > 2014 which was unveiled in 2013 at the Los Angeles Motor Show. According to the brand, this concept gives new steps toward a future performance crossover model.
In terms of design the concept receives the traditional language of the Mitsubishi SUVs, including the central grille. The XR-PHEV II is 4490mm long, 1890mm wide and 1620mm high.
According to Mitsubishi, the XR-PHEV II is a front wheel drive vehicle that is equipped with a hybrid powertrain that has an electric motor of high output. The Japanese brand summarizes the concept as a SUV that offers a reduced environmental impact, dynamic agility and an athletic design.
The hybrid powertrain includes a conventional internal combustion engine combined with a new electric motor and a 12k/Wh battery. This system has 160hp and emits 40g/km of CO2. Depending on conditions and battery charge the system automatically switches between electric, hybrid and parallel hybrid modes. The driver can also manually select the driving mode changing between battery saving and battery charging.
Inside, the XR-PHEV II includes aluminum frame that spreads to the sides from the center console, while the cockpit is focused on the driver with more accessible controls.
