– the E200 Natural Gas Drive and E220 BlueTEC BlueEFFICIENCY Editon.

E200 Natural Gas Drive

The E200 Natural Gas can run on natural gas and petrol. When running on natural gas, it produces 20% less CO2 and in some areas half of the fuel costs. It will go on sale in December for €47,808.25 in Germany.

The E200 Natural Gas is rated at using 4.3kg/100km of natural gas and emitting 116g/km of CO2 in natural gas mode. When the natural gas tank is empty, it switches automatically to running on petrol, which is rated at using 6.3l/100km and emits 147g/km of CO2.

The car’s engine is a four-cylinder, direct-injected engine with start/stop with 154hp and 199lb-ft of torque. It accelerates to 100km/h in 10.4 seconds with a top speed of 220km/h.

The natural gas is held in three tanks – one behind the rear seats and two under the trunk to hold a total of 121.5 liters. There is still 400 liters of cargo storage in the rear.

Being able to run on two fuels is also beneficial to range. The standard E200 Natural Gas has a 400km natural gas range and 900km petrol range. There is also an optional 80-liter petrol tank that increases range to a combined total of 1,600km.

E220 BlueTEC BlueEFFICIENCY Editon

The E220 BlueTEC BlueEFFICIENCY Edition emits 114g/km of CO2 and usues 4.4l/100km of diesel and will be available in September for €47,272.75 in Germany.

It uses Mercedes’ 2.1-liter diesel four-cylinder with 168hp and 295lb-ft of torque and seven-speed 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic and start/stop.

It also gets low rolling resistance 16in or 17in tires, a 15mm lower chassis and active radiator vents.

It accelerates to 100km/h in 8.4 seconds with a top speed of 227km/h.

The edition is available with any trim line of the E-Class.
