one of the main novelties of the new Twingo is the use of a rear engine.
Placing the engine on the back is a significant advantage in a small car since it releases the front axle and allows strongly to improve the turning circle. The new Twingo has, therefore, surprising maneuverability. The rear engine architecture also saves space on board. With a shorter front and wheels positioned on the 4 corners, the new Twingo has an interior space and a wheelbase that could compete with models from an upper segment.
Design of the new Twingo
The genesis of the design of the new TwingoRenault Twingo Expression...France, 2014 > present can be clearly found in the Twin'Z and Twin'Run concepts, revealed during 2013. Some design elements were inspired directly from the Renault 5, for example, the sharp lines and steep tailgate reminiscent of the famous rear engined R5 TurboRenault 5 TurboFrance, 1983 > present4 photos
that marked his era.
"The New Renault Twingo was inspired not only on the original Twingo but also on the R5. It is a modern interpretation of an urban, innovative car in terms of style and architecture. The new Renault Twingo is a fun, playful and vibrant city car," says Laurens van den Acker, Renault 's Design Director.
The front features the new design brand identity from Renault with a visible logo on a black background. The new Twingo features an expressive front enhanced by both daytime LED headlamps that combine technology with a "snap" to previous generations.
The original glazed back door of the new Twingo gives a modern and well-creased character to the entire rear section.
For the first time in its history the Twingo will be offered with a five-door body, making it more versatile. Furthermore, Renault is to propose a wide range of customization elements for the model, which has been characteristic of the success of the new Clio range.
The official presentation of the new Twingo will be held at the Geneva Motor Show. Only then we will get to know the interior of the city car model and the engines that will give life to the new generation.
