Subaru set out to beat the 21-year-old standing record for a production car around the famous and dangerous Isle of Man circuit, and it did it on their first practice lap. Manx driver Mike Higgins set a time of 19 minutes 37 seconds, about two-and-a-half minutes faster than the previous record. Higgins drove an Impreza STI sedan.
The video released by Subaru features multiple camera angles from around the car and fantastic sound. It all shows a moment in the lap where Higgins nearly lost control of the Subaru and has his narrate the experience and his reactions.
Subaru still has a ways to go if they want to beat the all-time lap record around the Isle of Man circuit. In 2009, John McGuinness on a Honda CBR1000RR set an record time of 17:12.30.
