From a country-by-country basis, April sales were down 18% in Italy, 21.7% in Spain, 57% in Greece and 1.9% in France. However sales were up 2.9% in Germany and up 3.3% in the UK. The reason for the drop in sales is attributed to high unemployment and bad expectations about the Euro.
Volkswagen Group had had a strong first quarter of 2012 with revenue up 26.3% and sales up 9.6%.
