Ross Brawn Thinks Engine Building Teams Will be Tops in 2014

There are only three confirmed engine manufacturers for 2014

Ross Brawn thinks that the engine building teams will have an advantage during the shift to 1.6-liter turbo V6 engines in 2014. There are only three confirmed engine manufacturers so far: RenaultRenaultRenaultFrance, 1898 > present189 models

. Only two of those teams have Formula 1 teams, although Red Bull and Renault are closely linked. Cosworth has not announced whether it will build engines yet.

"I don't think teams are going to have a worse engine because they are not a works team. But, inevitably, there is a closer involvement with how the engine is created and developed, so that is a fact," said Brawn.

to Mercedes. Brawn's statement can certainly be interpreted as a provocation at Hamilton that he will have a more competitive car at Mercedes than he has had at McLaren.

McLaren's contract for free Mercedes engines for its cars expires next year, which will add a significant extra cost to the company.
