Renault is preparing to launch in 2017 a pick-up model and just gave a first preview of this vehicle with the unveiling of the
Alaskan concept.
To date it is known that Renault's pick-up will be jointly produced with equivalent vehicles from
Nissan and
Mercedes, however, the German model should only reach the market in 2020. Renault and Mercedes models will share its platform with the recently launched new generation of the
Navara. However, companies will be responsible for the engineering and design of the respective models.
Despite being a commercial vehicle by nature, Renault is trying to reach with the Alaskan drivers focused on leisure. The French brand describes the interior as a high-quality space with room for five passengers. The vehicle has a camera located on the door mirror that allows filming the surrounding landscapes.
Alaskan is equipped with a 2.3-liter turbodiesel engine with 165hp, the same engine used in commercial truck Master.
The production version of the Alaskan will be presented in the summer of 2016 and launched in the European market in the summer of the following year.
