Bugatti Rumored to Be Working on 1600hp Veyron

with a very special final edition with 1,600hp possibly from a larger displacement engine. The car is rumored to be revealed at the next Frankfurt Motor Show.

has already likely turned the boost up on the turbos about as far as they will go. That means an increase in displacement is probably in order. 

The rumor continues that the car would drop any attempt at luxury in favor of all out speed. That could cut about 500lbs (227kg) from the Veyron. 

The 400ps boost and weight loss would increase the Veyron's top speed from 259mph to 288mph and could mean that the car could accelerate to 62mph (100km/h) in 1.8 seconds. 

Given that Bugatti is now asking $2.5 million (€1.9 million) for its special edition Gris Rafale Veyron Grand Sport VitesseBugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand...Germany, 2012 > present3 photos
, this significantly more powerful Veyron would almost certainly retail for more than that.
