was unveiled by Subaru as a more robust station wagon variant of the Legacy.
According to the Japanese brand, the new Outback has a ground clearance of 220mm, a height that is larger than some SUV models. The door sills receive a distinctive design to facilitate the entry and exit of the vehicle. In terms of space the new Outback has also undergone improvements over the previous generation.
In New York Subaru revealed only the technical data of the U.S. version of the Outback. In that market the model will be available with a choice of two six-cylinder boxer engines, a 175hp 2.5 liter and a 256hp 3.6 liter. Both versions will be available exclusively with a CVT automatic transmission and as usual in Subaru it will be equipped as standard with four-wheel drive. A 148hp diesel version should be available in some European markets.
A major focus of the development of the new Subaru Outback was safety. Thanks to the Rear Vehicle Detection System, the new model includes a blind spot detection, lane change assistant and rear cross traffic alert technologies.
The vehicle also includes the latest driver assistance technology EyeSight, which uses cameras and incorporates the lane departure and pre-crash alerts and also the adaptive cruise control technology.
