The ILX premiered at the 2012 NAIAS is based on the Honda Civic and includes Acura's first gasoline-electric hybrid ever.
Three advanced powertrain choices are available for 2014 ILX, with a standard 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine that produces 150 horsepower. Paired with a Sequential SportShift 5-speed automatic transmission, it has an fuel economy rating of 24/35/28 mpg. For a more dynamic driving experience, the ILX can be equipped with a close-ratio, six-speed manual transmission matched to a 2.4-liter engine generating 201 horsepower, and a fuel economy rating of 22/31/25 mpg.
The 2.0l engine version is available with two trims: Premium or Technology. As for the 2.4l version it is only available with the Premium package.
Acura's first hybrid drivetrain system uses a gasoline engine as the primary source of power while an electric motor provides additional power and electricity regeneration capability. The system consists of a 1.5-liter i-VTEC® 4-cylinder engine connected to an integrated electric motor and a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). A Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) battery pack is used to capture and store electricity for the 23-horsepower (17.2 kilowatt) electric motor. Together, the gasoline engine and electric motor team to produce 111 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 127 lb-ft of torque between 1,000-3,500 rpm.
