Ferguson started to work on bikes, then moved up to tractors, then cars and ended up developing the first Formula One car with 4 wheel drive, in 1960. He developed the Ferguson System which was essentially a three-point linkage applied on tractors and trailing systems. In 1950, Ferguson founded Harry Ferguson Research Limited to construct race cars and supply four-wheel drive systems.
