The introduction of the second generation i20 was announced for the 2014 Paris Motor Show.

The i20 is based on a new platform with a 2570mm wheelbase, 45mm longer than the previous model. With an increased interior space, Hyundai managed to comfortably accommodate five adults. The load capacity presented by the new i20 is leader in the segment with 326 liters with rear seats unfolded.

A panoramic roof improves the comfort and the sense of space for the driver and passengers. Other features that add to the refinement of the new generation include integrated rear view camera and front and rear LED lighting.

The design of the second generation is based on the "Fluidic Sculpture 2.0"  philosophy of the brand. The European design team created a Hyundai vehicle with a bold front, with a hexagonal grille and a chrome frame that was lowered for design and engineering reasons. The front also has a thin grid that connects the headlights and also a lower grille that houses the fog lamps. The rear of the new i20 includes a glossy black C-pillar that gives the feeling of floating roof.
