The Lamborghini Gallardo is Lamborghini's most-produced model today, with over 10,000 built in seven years. The car is named after a fighting bull and the word gallardo means "gallant" translated from Spanish.

The Gallardo is available with a conventional six-speed manual transmission as well as an advanced six-speed electro-hydraulically controlled semi-automatic robotized manual called E-gear.

With the 2006 Gallardo, Lamborghini introduced a number of changes such as a new exhaust system, a revised suspension and a new steering rack. Also the power of the V10 engine increased to a maximum 512 hp (382 kW), and the gearing was lowered in 1st to 5th.
