In 2012 Volkswagen introduced two new and more powerful engine options for Europe.
The first upgrade is a new TDI diesel with 140ps and 340Nm of torque. The engine will be available with available BlueMotion Technology and 4MOTION all-wheel drive. BlueMotion Technology adds start/stop, regenerative braking, low rolling resistance tires and cruise control. It can be optioned with either a manual or dual-clutch DSG transmission. The cleanest version uses with BlueMotion uses 6.9l/100km of diesel and 182g/km of CO2. All-wheel drive increases consumption by between 0.1l/100km and 0.9l/100km depending on model.
The other new engine option is a 150ps and 280Nm of torque tune of the 2.0 TSI engine. It is available only with a six-speed manual transmission and accelerates to 100km/h in 12.5 seconds. It uses 9.8l/100km of petrol and produces 228g/km of CO2.

The latest generation of the T-Models, the T5, was launched in 2003. The T5 Multivan got a facelift in 2009 and a new 2.0 TSI engine was added to the line-up in 2011.
