about:
Successor of the 410 Superamerica, the 400 Superamerica was produced between 1959 and 1964. With this model Ferrari stepped away for the first time from the model type number. The ’400′ designation referred to their total cubic capacity of four litres. All but two of the forty-six cars in the series were designed by Pininfarina, and the majority were in coupé form.
The 400 Superamerica was powered by a a smaller 4.0l Colombo engine, but produced as much power as its predecessor. It was coupled to a 4-speed, all synchromesh gearbox, fitted with an electronic overdrive unit on top gear.
The first 400 Superamerica was a one-off version specially built in 1959 for Gianni Agnelli.
