Jaguar XK (United Kingdom, 1996-2006)

The first incarnation of the Jaguar XK series, better known as the X100 model, was publicly released in March 1996 at the Geneva Motor Show. This grand tourer was placed in the market as a replacement for the Jaguar XJS model and was largely based on Aston Martin’s model DB7, sharing the same platform with it.   The first generation XK had its assembly line at Jaguar’s facility in Coventry, England. Two variants of the 1st XK series were produced, based on the available engine options: the car launched in 1996 was the XK8 and it was joined, two years later, by the XKR.   These cars received some corrections for 2003 that were mainly focused on improving drivability, safety and comfort. Jaguar produced the first XK series until 2005, when a second generation model was introduced.
